Propping Up The Bar
Chumley dives for cover from his work and marital responsibilities. Spending yet another lunch time at the seedy Club Expose, Chumley grumbles to the barman about his lot.
Lights up on stage right. We see Chumley with a pint in his hand by the bar.
Chumley:
Propping up the bar once again
Have one yourself and for that guy on the end
Shame he's not as happy as me
I want beer not sympathy
Yeah, the kids are fine I try not to dote
The wife's bought herself another fur coat
Her wardrobe's getting bigger by the week
Running out of room to sleep
Doing all these hours just for her
Doing all these hours just for her
All these hours just for her
All these hours just for her
Try to keep my home and job apart
Work and wife competing for my heart
Doing all these hours just for her
Keep the little vixen wrapped in fur!
Propping up the bar once again
Have one yourself and for that guy on the end
Shame he's not as happy as me
I want beer not sympathy
Dramatic lighting of four characters.
Lights down.
Chumley leaves stage with bar stool and pint glass.
