invisible tears - a sung through musical theatre piece

Act 1

Scene 6

Mirror

Cara and Jeremy enter.
Blue lights up on Cara behind screens. She is getting changed.

Cara:
The lady before me
Is gentle and worthy
Her smile is so lovely
Her nature says love me

So well groomed and well cut
Face painted not made up
She's cultured and clever
So well put together

Red lights up on Jeremy at office. It is Tuesday evening - he has been working late. Taking the hat-stand as a substitute, he sings of his love for Cara.

Jeremy:
Words can not express all I feel
How to show that my love is real
But I can`t keep these feelings inside
The joy I feel when you're by my side

Cara:
The lady before me
Is graceful and pretty
Her virtues adorn her
Her breeding her aura

So perfect her countenance
A rehearsed performance
I love her, could she be
The best image of me

Jeremy:
Words can not express all I feel
How to show that my love is real
But I can't keep these feelings inside
The joy I feel when you're by my side

Cara:
I'm terrified that he might find
The secret life that lies behind
The memories that haunt my day
And make me wish the night away

Cara: Jeremy:
I wish I could deceive myself Words can not express all I feel
And change the way I feel inside
I couldn't bear to be myself How to show that my love is real
It's someone I don't recognize

Lights down on Cara.
Jeremy takes the hat-stand with him to the bus stop. (The stand is inverted to become a bus stop).
